Here are some of the color shots I shot with Christine after she came out of work at 730 in the morning after a 12.5 hour shift. That's right. I'm jealous because I certainly don't look this good after 12.5 hours of anything.

All shots in this set are from the Nikon D810, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 II, and 2 SB-910 speedlights mounted on Manfrotto stackable light stands. No modifier in these images as the wind was kicking up and i've broken too many speedlights over the last few years. Thanks to Mark Williams for helping out with the light stands and making sure Christine got home safe and sound after....

In this image I have both speedlights to camera left one up high aimed down at 45° to put that nice light on her face and the other is lower to light the boots and stockings. The lower flash is set to -1 stop as I want the focus of the image to be Christine's face but I do want detail on the boots. The light spilling past her to the orange plastic means a separation light isn't essential to this image. That being said I wish I would have added a third light behind and to camera right. Failure is the greatest teacher.

Here again I have the speedlights to one side of the model because I'm going for a more dramatic and moody style of light. Christine's pose is perfect for the light and the sun coming up behind gives just enough separation to create dimensionality in the image. The lights are staggered height wise as before to give detail in the boot and stockings. 1/250th at f5 to control the ambient and give myself the look i was going for in this image. 

By JC Carey for jcphotomedia.com Here I've moved the 2nd flash to the camera right and behind Christine in order to create a hair light and put some light on the leather jacket. Before I moved the 2nd flash to camera right, Christine's hair was getting lost in the shadow of the building above her head. The added flash made sure that she was the distinctive focus in the image.
