C'mon now - you know I'm wordier than that.

Snapcase was never my favorite band. They came too late to be in the running for that and too early to be the band that helped bring me back to the hardcore world. What they were was a band that put on a great show. Had insightful lyrics with a singer that I could understand. That was big for me in 93-97 when it seemed like every band was deciding that sing alongs and stage dives were not as cool as indecipherable lyrics and chug chug beatdown dance parts. What sucked for me was that i liked the dance parts but what brought me into this world were the lyrics. Without them it was hollow and I would gladly sit and listen to the stuff that baptized me into this world rather than new bands. There WERE new bands of course that mean something to me. Some like Burn (who also played and killed this show - pics in another post) and Quicksand were phoenix rising from the ashes of bands that I loved. Their were bands like Avail that a few years earlier might have been too "punk" for me but instead were perfect. There were the Sick Of It All's of the world - bands I grew up in the scene with and that NEVER stopped playing....There were the random Killing Time shows and the Wetlands and Coney Island High scenes and I was always transported to a good place when I went but I didn't go as much because if it wasn't the bands i grew up with then...well in the course of 4-5 years things just weren't the same. Back to Snapcase. They were never as hard as their upstate NY brethren. The lyrics were understandable and with each record they were growing up just as I was. By the time that 2000's Designs for Automation came out I was back in love with hardcore...So while they may not have been my favorite band. They were an important band to me. Those bands that carried the baton for me from 93-97 are almost more important than the bands that made me fall in love the first time. Those are the bands that kept my love of hardcore alive. From the reaction the crowd gave tonight...They are still super important.

For this show - Holy Shit! They were tight. I saw them last at the Anti Matter show and for some reason my memory does not have them sounding like this. Great set with energy, passion, and precision. They were amazing last night. Thanks guys!
