The beauty of photography for me has been the learning curve - the ability to gain competence at one thing only to find an interest in something else that you have no idea how to do. I've been messing around with some basic timelapse for a bit but lately I've been trying to nail it down in preparation for a trip to Zion and then a trip to China where I want to produce pieces that will be momentos of times that I may never re-explore. Adding movement has made for more dynamic timelapses but has added a whole other level of frustration as I try hard to get the proper amount of movement vs time. I have long said if I wanted patience i'd have been a doctor and timelapse is the ultimate in patience. In urban settings you have the added issues of protecting your gear from the crowds, cars, and the elements. I look forward to the desert where I can set it up and walk away while exploring other shots with another camera. Enjoy my errors - I learn far more from them than I do from the things I've done right in the past....
