The sound of desperation was in full force Friday night at New York City's Webster Hall. American Nightmare (give up the ghost to some of you) invaded from Boston and brought their brand of emotional hardcore to the sold out house with a set that included most of the bands catalog. The band was tight and Wesley's voice felt stronger than the 2012 show. Since shooting the band for the first time in 2001 I've always had a spot in my heart for the blend of heartfelt lyrical pain and musical attack. The blend of pain and catharsis in the music has always left me feeling more alive. And that is the point.

Photographic Notes -

Nikon D810 with Nikkor 24 1.4 and 58 1.4. No flash. The stage lighting was dramatic but consisted almost entirely of backlighting. Exposures are all between 1/200th and 1/500th of a second with ISO's of 2000 for most. There was lots of smoke and dust in the air contributing to an all around difficult show to shoot. Many of these files were pulled one to two stops to get the amount of light that there is in the images. Overall difficult night but I still like the sense of the show that the images present.
