David Wright
What to say? Best met position player ever? To me...yes. If you put character and longevity into it then it's not a contest. 11 fullyears...a few injured but always a smile off the field and a ready to roll look on it. No drama. No off the field incidents. 14 years. .296 average with seven seasons hitting at least .300. 242 home runs. 2 silver sluggers. 2 gold gloves. 196 steals. All great. Not hall of fame numbers but to the Mets fan - he is the best we've ever had. He played 1586 games at third for the Mets. The next highest total was Howard Johnson at 835.
Mets records? Most of em.
I had the honor to photograph him the last 5 years... to root for him his entire run. And to say goodbye in person and capture images of his last game as a Major Leaguer... Farewell David... Farewell
