Welcome to the JCPhoto&Media Workshops and Classes page. Here is where you can find out where and what I'll be teaching in the coming months. Most of my workshops will focus on demystifying flash photography especially with speedlites (speedlights for you Nikonians).

My teaching schedule is broken down three ways.

1.  I will be teaching free classes periodically at the B&H Event Space which will go over all the basics to create better images with flash. These are non-shooting classes where I show by illustrated example how to get big flash results from your tiny little speedlights.

2.  The second type of class will be walking tours with models around various NYC neighborhoods. These classes are not associated with the Event Space and there will be a nominal fee that covers the cost of instruction, one or two models, and a critique of your images. These shoots will be limited to 10 attendees and will be 90% student shooting with me simply showing a method and then helping you get the images you want from the set-up. All students will be invited to submit their three favorite images and I will give a critique of the images. The cost of one of these classes is $130  and includes 2 and 1/2 hours of class as well as the critique. I recommend that you make it to the Event Space class as a good solid introduction to Speedlighting but there will be enough instruction during the class that you will certainly benefit from the the model walk with or without the benefit of the intro class.

3.  I also offer instruction to smaller groups and single photographers to give you the most personal attention possible. Personal instruction is billed at $150/hr per person. 

I am fluent in the language of both Canon and Nikon and can help you with most any other brand of DSlr. The methods that I teach are applicable to any system of camera and flash but you will get the most if you have a flash and capable of high speed synch (FPS for Nikon)
