Chicago Recap

March 25, 2013  •  1 Comment

Turned out to be an exciting weekend in Chicago - Got to shoot two fun models and hang out with my friends over at Rocky Mountain School of Photography. Roxanne, David Marx, and Tony Rizzuto did a great job and the attendees were awesome. Had a great long exposure talk with David. Looking forward to putting some of his concepts into action.

Saturday I met up with a longtime online friend - a woman that is in a relationship with a person I respect. I had a model from model mayhem scheduled for later in the afternoon after getting off the plane and was very lucky that Aisha agreed to get out of her Saturday obligations and meet up on very short notice. I wasn't expecting much - she didn't say "I'm A Model!" - she just agreed to do some shots. I'm very proud to say that they came out excellent. Some sharpening and a touch of clarity in the post but nothing on the color - just some good old fashioned HSS (high speed sync) on a day that started sunny and ended with a storm on the way in....

I used two different light modifiers during the day - 3 if you include bare flash. One was the 15 inch Impact Quikbox. I like this. I can hand hold it if i have to and it's deep set enough to let me feather with it or aim straight out. It has an inner baffle and an outer which is nice as when i want a little extra punch i remove the outer diffuser but keep the inside one for a big light source without the softness of the fully constructed box.

The other source for the day was the Westcott Apollo Strip - as anyone that knows me has heard i love the Westcott Apollo's and will do an in depth review in the near future.

Without further ado i'm going to throw up some pics from the shoot - enjoy and please let me know what you think.....Aisha In Chicago - Impact Quikbox 15 Inch Rusty Bridge Vs Aisha Chicago

Aisha had a ton of fun meeting you and getting these shots with minimal fuss. You captured a taste of the windy city, well done :)
