Caroline Pearce NYC Fightweek UFC 217

Timing is everything. Wise people say it. Wiser people know it. A lot of life boils down to being in the right place at the right time.

While visiting the UFC photo crew for UFC 217 to show the freaking amazing D850 to the freaking amazing Jeff Bottari, I happened to be standing behind Caroline in the media line at MSG where the press was waiting to go in to do media day in advance of UFC 217. Caroline was a few steps in front of me and she misstepped for half a second and I smirked up in that way that happens when two people know that something could have went bad and told her that I would have caught her. Simple interaction. They happen everyday between people and most of the time will never mean anything after. I asked Jeff who she was. He shows me her Instagram and if wasn't already apparent (IT WAS) that she was a work out junkie her IG proved it. I did a few seconds of stalking...um...research and decided to reach out to see if she had a few moments because I've been working on a project showing fitness/yoga in places you don't see it all the time. I wasn't going to be able to drag Caroline to one of my abandoned spaces but I figured I'd see if she had any free time. She responded and we set it up for a few hours before fight time on Saturday. Just my D850, a couple Nikkor lenses and 2 SB-5000's. It was a little windy and i was alone so bigger mods were out of the question so I went barebulb. With a woman with amazing muscularity the bare bulbs would help accentuate so i was ok with the choice. Of course I would have liked to have had a more complex lighting scenario but i was not going to pass up the chance to shoot someone like Caroline. The stalking...um...research had shown that she was a former heptathlete for England. Followed that up with bobsled. She then figured out how to turn her passion into profession and became a fitness guru and on air personality for tons of things leading to her time with Fox Sports 1 and the UFC.

She was amazing. Totally fearless and comfortable and inspiring. (i woke up and did sit ups and pushups this morning because of being shamed by her muscles) I hope you take a moment to check her out.

Thank you Caroline for an hour of your time.

Thank you Nikon for making the best stuff.

Thank you Jeff and the UFC for having me over...
