Traveling the world is not always what it is cracked up to be. You don't see the images of my coworkers and I trying to find enough wifi to get in touch with our families, scrunching our eyes to read serial numbers, dragging thousands of pounds of boxes of gear through convention centers, struggling to find food that won't kill you or make you fat. I don't post that stuff because a. who wants to see that? and b. it is greatly overshadowed by the moments that shine so bright that I don't think of that. Instead i think of the kinds of images i get to produce. The people I get to meet. The places i get to experience.
Nikon threw one hell of a party for the working press of the Rio Games on Wednesday night before the real action starts all around Rio. A chance to blow off steam before they have to focus (get it? he he he)
I don't have much experience with shooting dance and I was trying to make sure that I didn't interfere with the audience enjoying the show. I moved between faster shutter speeds to eliminate the background clutter for some images to slow shutters to try to capture the feeling of the dancers motion while also maintaining detail on key features.
All images created with Nikon D5, SB-5000, and 24-70 VR. The capabilities of the SB-5000/WR10 combo are amazing and I look forward to getting to make more images throughout this enigma of a country.
